TITLE: TASK 6; AUTEUR CRITISM
TALENTIME & SEPET
Yasmin Ahmad known as a film
director, writer and scriptwriter. Yasmin Ahmad was a Leo Burnet Kuala Lumpur
creative director. Her tv commercial and films are popular in Malaysia for
their comedy and touching. According to auteur criticism, Yasmin Ahmad would be
one of the best director that can be considered as an auteur. Her films mis-en-scene
revolves around the same theme as
aesthetic styles which are the recurrences and similarities of the mood
or colour tone. She has produced several films such as Mualaf, Mukhsin, Sepet
and talentime. Yasmin Ahmad usually like to produced a film which exposed culture
and nationality
For this study I would like to
choose Sepet and Talentime as my examples, which are both film highlighted the
race in Malaysia. Talentime is a film to find a talented person while there’s
still have other character which are dumb and in Sepet shows the love birds
which have different religion.
Next, in the film, Yasmin Ahmad was
very picky with the dialog she always used the poetry language that shows the
Malay culture which are polite. As we can see, for both film the theme must be
in village, school and old house or any street that must be popular to attract
people watch the film.
